back wall placement bipoles (Fxi) and seating against the wall.

Hello,

Been on other forums for a while but just joined here after reading older posts and seems to be a good group of users. I like this because it seems Polk specific.

I need some guidance on speaker placement (seen other posts with similar scenarios)

Current set up:

13x13 room dedicated
Polk Monitor 50's for front
CS1 for Center
Surround (Need advice)
Epson 8350 Projector 100 screen
10yr HK receiver but upgrading soon
Theater seats on back wall (the dreaded back wall)

It seems bipoles for rear surround (in a 5.1 config) are a solid option in my situation for mounting directly on the back wall (seating against the back wall). I don't want stands and a terrible bathroom door in the corner does not allow for surround rear placement evenly on both sides of the side walls, if mounted.

Q1 : Do you still recommend bipoles in this situation? If not I'll suck it up and use stands with some OMW3's or get creative with ceiling corners (ugh).

Q2 : I like the fxia4's and the older fxi3's. Also, for considerably less I can get the RM8 rear speakers. (my range of speakers is on purpose as I'm not sure I would get 3x the sound quality for 3x the price but willing to spend if it makes sense).

Any Polk thoughts out there?

I have the FXi5s, and really like them. I too am restricted with side mounting, and have mine of the rear wall. It our apartment, the seating was against the wall. In my house now, I have the seating out about 3 ft out from rear wall. I've run the FXi5s in bipole mode for this setup, and have been very pleased! I've also had to mount them higher than ideal, but they do sound very good.
    Just Polkin' around...
