Onkyo tx-ds989 receiver stopped putting out audio

My friends Onkyo TX-DS989 receiver which he's had since new has stopped putting out audio sound... he uses the pre outs on this receiver to a Onkyo 5 ch 200wpc amp.. just stopped putting out sound.

anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? dead pre amp modules? video still works, but audio doesn't.

the million dollar question is.. how much does a repair like this usually run>?

    Try doing a factory reset by turning on the unit and then holding Video1 along with the standby button simultaneously.

    Could this be yet another fried Onkyo receiver? Sorry I don't have any answers for you. Good luck though...

    The receiver is more then 11 years old. Probably came with a 1 or 2 years manufaturers warranty so not bad if it's only dying out now.
