Got some good deals on an Adcom GFP-565 and Adcom GFA-555. Want to keep it going! Was thinking of "maxing" out the RTA8Ts with Sonicaps, Mills, RDO194s and spikes OR begin in the SDA realm. If I go SDA, what would be an appropriate speaker for a room of 12 x 18 x 7.5? (12 being the listening wall)

I'd recommend going SDA and not looking back. The RTA's are great, but nothing sounds like an SDA, and I definitely prefer the SDA sound. Lower, more visceral bass, wider, more enveloping soundstage etc.

For your room I'd look at the 2B's or 1C's. Between the 2, I give the nod to the 1C's, but if you're going to mod the crossovers, some folks would say go 2B since they're TL'able. A 3.1TL might work in that space, but they're harder to find and more expensive.

    Good luck on the hunt!

I have some very nice 2.3's over in the for sale section if interested. It would be a days drive for you to see them though. I drove 15 hrs. to buy these and was well worth it.

Thanks Charley. I will check it out. Haven't taken a road trip in quite some time. Will get back with.

Those look awsome! Pretty big, but a heck of a deal. Gotta mull this over all things considered

Good luck with your search, after joining this forum after regestering my RTI'A5s I ended up getting some A3's and started reading about the SDA's. I started searching and found 2 pair of CRS+'s and a pair of 2B's all within 6 months they were not as hard to find as I thought they would be. I actually passed on a pair of 1'cs a month ago they were pretty beat up but, I love the ones I currently have.

You should have picked up the Adcom...I have the 2.3 with the RDO-194s you could have taken them for a spin. I agree it would be a very large speaker for a 12 foot wall. Too bad you weren't looking a year ago, the 2Bs I traded to get my RTA15TLs went for less than $200. I would say the 1Cs or 2Bs would be a better fit, but I love the bass from the larger cabinets. Maybe you get lucky and find some SRS2. Good Luck.
