Thought I saw on a thread here something about a significant audible difference between these two amps. Is there?

Search Adcom and H9 posts and you'll probably come up with a number of posts that talk about how the original 555 was Nelson Pass's untouched design for Adcom and how subsequent models had some "tinkering" by Adcom that had no input from Pass who was gone by then. The basic idea was that the original, simpler architecture, was a little better than what followed. But I doubt it was a night and day difference? So later versions are not "bad"!

I'm not sure of any audible difference but one thing that is noticeable is the older models have a big honkin rocker on/off switch and the newer ones not so beefy for lack of a better word.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
