Hey crew,
Got some questions and this seemed the best place to put them. Started my setup with the 12's in my sig and a yamaha rx-v371, which was scraping the barrel and not pushing much at all but it would get loud. Well, to get a better foundation for a nice surround system in the living room I moved up to the Onkyo. Since getting it I bi-amped the towers and ran the audyssey setup. Strangely it seems weaker (in the bass and overall volume dept.) than the yamaha in some ways.... I guess I was expecting more from the added power of the Onk. Any ideas??

I realize that an amp would cure this problem but I'm not diving into that yet. Any adjustments that could be made?
I'm also going to add a sub to the mix which will help as well I'm sure.

The next move I'm going to make is a UPS back-up and power conditioner. My projection TV, PS3, and Onk need more protection than that powerstrip! What do you guys think?

I would use a good set of jumpers on the speakers. Not getting much benefit biamping a reciever. Power conditioner: APC H15.

Good move on the Onk 809 since you have pre amp outputs. Think about an amp in the future to drive the 12's with, first try above the Brass Bars on the speakers can be an issue with sound. Bi-amping the onk wasn't a good move that didn't give you any move output over one.

So swapping back over to single hooks with jumpers attached may make a difference?

You would be better off making you own jumpers out of quality wire than useing stock jumpers that came with the speakers.

One question, would turning the ohms down to 4 instead of 6 help the volume or bass issue?? I'm very ignorant to the aspect of impedence as well!

    Nope, leave it at 6.

Make sure none of the plastic coating on the speaker wire is caught inside a binding post on either the receiver or speakers. Check in your receivers menu what the speaker levels are set at. Start at 0 and adjust from there.

Cool, left it at 6. I got the cd manual out last night and went through all of the adjustments and got it where I like it now. Upping the input signal from each source has helped greatly! Still have more adjusting to the EQ but def got a LOT better yesterday! Thanks fellas!
