Monitor 7 vs RT55

I found a pair of Monitor 7s for $75. Assuming they sound okay, does that seem like a fair price?

And, how do they compare to the RT55s that I have now? Seems like I have read good things on here about both speakers.

I have never heard the Monitors but thought I might set them up just for music.

Havent heard the 55's however the price on tje 7's ( if right and nice) is a good price. Very musical and the ones i had i thought were the best of the monitor line imho.ive had the 5's 7's 10's 12's and considered the 7's the best of the litter for 2 ch.. So grab them before someome else does. Just my opinion. Do be prepaires to put them on 7-9" stamds as it expamds the bass nicely.

Thanks, freak1. Guess I will check them out tomorrow. And I suppose everyone will tell me to upgrade the tweeters

The monitor 7 is a sealed cabinet. The RT55s are ported.

I recently sold on this forum my monitor 7bs with pearless tweets and stands. I just used my RT55s in my HT fronts for the past 2 days to make sure they were working before I sell them as well so my listening was recent.

My monitor 7s, which had rebuilt crossovers were way better for music than the RT55s in my opinion. They do not have the same base impact for home theatre that the RT55s can do, but more balance and musical for me.

And for $75 it is worth going to look and listen. If I had any place to use mine, I would not have let them go, but they had been idle for several months and deserved to be used.

Ya they prob have sl2000 if i rember correctly and the 194 are a great upgrade. But the surprized the hell out of me! And at tjat that price a great value. Dynamat the drivers, get them off the floor a few inches 7/9 inches and enjoy. I still think they are the cherry of the monitor line ( not counting the RTA series of cource) hopefully they are the c's .

RT-55s are nice speakers but Monitor 7s are legendary, especially for music! They are also in a larger cab and dig a lot lower than the 55s.

And 75 is a great price. I almost picked up a pair myself. But a snowstorm stopped the exchange and by the time we tried again, the guy had moved into his new place and came to his senses! He kept them!

    Move quickly!

I just picked up a pair of 7's with peerless tweets as well.

The cabs need a bit of work but they work fine.

I like what I am hearing about how musical the 7's are, I am looking forward to rotating them into the mix once I get the cabs sorted out.
