Out of 21 views and still nobody knows??? I sure don't plan on spending a thousand dollars on for a receiver I picked up for 450 including a full 5 year warranty, so maybe someone that understands "adding a power amp on a budget 101" will chime in without being to harsh. Glad neither of the auctions were ending this morning on eBay!!"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

Nobody probably answered because we're not sure what you mean by "pair up" with a receiver. Amps don't necessarily pair up with receivers, it comes down to powering speakers and tayloring the sound to your liking. Your speakers are 8 ohm and don't require alot of juice to sound their best anyway. When looking for an amp, look for something with a beefy power supply, not watts. Look at amperes peak to peak to give a better insight to how beefy it is. There are a million brands of amps out there besides Onkyo and we have a million threads on amps too. Read some, see if the reviews sound like something you would like.
Imho anyway, the money would be better spent and you'd get a bigger bang for your buck in sound quality by upgrading the sub with those 2000's. Plus the sub would do all the heavy lifting leaving the receiver more power for the mids and tweets.HT SYSTEM-

There are some fine amps for sale on the forum from some fine people. No doubt someone here can give you first hand experience of the synergy between an amp and your speakers. I dont see what speakers you are using?

Hey there from Kettering Ohio. I am using the Polk RT 2000i's and a pair of Polk FX300i's for surround. I have a yamaha powered sub off to the right front corner that seems to be booming pretty good along with the subs in the 2000i's?? Just looking for a amp to add to the receiver, (so not sure pairing was the right word) I am new to this stuff. If someone here indeed has a good amp that would make sense, I'd be willing to buy here instead from eBay, no doubt. Just haven't seen what it is that I think I need?? By all means, if you see something, let me know. Thanks"if it's not fun, it's not worth it & remember folks, "It's All About The Music"!!

Just got a nice Adcom pre, so I am kicking around the idea of pairing it with an Adcom amp. If I do, my Kenwood Basic M2 will be for sale. Really a nice amp and a lot of bang for the buck. Don't let "Kenwood" scare you in your search. They made a lot of cheaper "rack" stuff, but also made some quality seperates. -
