Receiver for speakers
Hey guys! I have a pioneer vsx 1020k receiver. Just wondering if it has enough power to do my speakers justice.
I have the monitor 70's for fronts and sides. The Csi a6 for center and klypsh s7 for rears. Psw125 for my sub. I feel like the a6 needs more juice.

More power is always beneficial, but try this first. Go into your receivers menu and go to speaker level adjustments and turn the surrounds up to about +3 or 4 and see if that floats your boat any. With all those speakers, your only pushing about 30 watts to each so more power may be up your alley. Unfortunately you don't have preouts to add an amp either so a newer more robust receiver maybe the ticket.HT SYSTEM-

You should go out and see if you can listen to some Onkyo (70X series or higher), Pioneer (11XX the ones with the pre-outs NOT the newer ones), Harman Kardon 3XX (again MUST have pre-outs), Marantz 600X series and so on.
Take a look at accessories4less.com for one year refurbs from Marantz and Onkyo and Denon, will help you come closer to your budget?
Also check out or search for the Harman Kardon ebay site for better deals on some of their AVRs. Look for pre-outs.
Now what are pre-outs. When you look at the back of a receiver there should be OUTPUTS for all of your speaker channels, RCA outputs (L/C/R/SR L/R/SR BACK L/R, SUB). These RCAs which are labeled PRE-OUTS allow you to upgrade to more powerful external amplification in your future and will also UP the "resale" value of you AVR. Make it easier to sell when you want to.
Good Luck--500 is a tough range to find a new AVR with pre-outs!

If you want to go with a receiver with pre outs I would look into the used market. Just look for the receiver with the bells and whistles you want. You will find a good receiver for $500 that is a couple of years old. If using the receiver with external aplification, the receiver is really nothing more the a pre amp.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
