Using more then one ethernet in a home theater set up??

Does using more then one internet cable cancel out signals?? I have one running to the receiver and one running to the DVD player. Problem, DVD player is not responding to this?? I know....take one of the ethernet cables out and see if that helps, but thought to ask and see if anyone else had this problem. Other than that, I have a call back coming from Onkyo today at 1PM and I plan on addressing this matter with them as well. That and will ask them to help with the mic set up for the speakers. That should be fun!!

    No, they won't cancel out signals. Are they both connected to your router?

    Yes they are, so still wondering why the H the DVD player isn't reading?? I did the firmware updates. Puzzled, and hope it's not an issue with the receiver, but more of something I did wrong!!

    Probably a setup issue. What dvd player are you using ? Did you read the manuals for both receiver and dvd player ?

    If the dvd player has a wireless option then you have to go into settings and select ethernet or wired. Also did you enter your password? Also, did you swap the cords between the two components to make sure both cords are functional?

    Oh am I feeling dumb right about now!!!!!! I had the HDMI cable plugged into the VCR slot??? MAN what a slow kid I can be!! Then the guy said that setting the mic up was easy to do, so here I go on that. Thanks and at least ya know I am no pro at this stuff, but still on the lookout for a good amp to boost the quality of sound as this new receiver does thump the old one into the ground, but I'm still thinking that a good amp will produce better sound. Am I right??
