Can I leave my PSW10 always on?

The "Auto" power setting does not always turn the sub on, I think it's when the receiver is emulating 5.1 sound from a stereo source.

In any case, what is the downside to leaving the sub on all the time?

Hello and welcome to the forum. The sub has to sense a signal in order for it to turn on. No signal, no sub even if it is on. Check the settings in your AVR. There is no harm in keeping it on 24/7 unless you are in an area that is prone to surges or lightning strikes.

Just trying to be a pain - are there any concerns about heat or whatnot if left on? Does it draw much power when on but not in use?

I leave my switch on always on, and turn the sub on/off with the main power switch.
