That just an absolutely great speaker and the cabinet design and build quality is incredible for that price.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Agreed with the above post. I miss my A9's as well. Really wish I was able to hear them in their full glory in a proper HT setup.

Sorry- forgot to post the link. Even better they're the cherry version.

I noticed two more pair were sold since my order.

I assume that price is per speaker? Maybe I'm missing it but the ad doesn't make it clear to me. If it's per speaker then that's still a good price but there are alot of good speakers at $1000 a pair. If that happens to be for the pair then it's an absurdly good price and I don't think you could do better for the money.

Ah yes, it is for a single speaker, not sure how I missed that obviously in the title.

Better deals than that are to be had, just have to be patient. Maybe not from the factory, but there are owners that take care of their stuff, and sometimes decide to sell for a fraction of this price. If you have to have it now.....great?? The patient buyer wins......all the time!!

Naturally, there is always going to be a better deal to be had on anything and I was patient waiting for this deal rather than paying $1,500 which is what everybody wanted for a pair of A9s.

Don't get me wrong; I'm as big a proponent of saving money wherever possible but I don't see much possibility of getting a pair for significantly less than this from a private individual to make it worth the effort. To wit- I saw a pair of LSi15s bring within spitting distance of the $875 they offered from PolkDirect and one grille even had a small rip! And that wouldn't include shipping. Plus the unknown of how they've been treated, if abused, any other cosmetic issues and no warranty. Finally there's the factor of the time & energy it would take to make it worthwhile.

Given the above, going the refurbed-PolkDirect/eBay route is just the most economical way to go, from where I stand.

To my knowledge and the last time I checked, the Newegg deal applied to the A9 in black, not cherry- as was the case for this eBay deal. I should've specified "RTiA9 (Cherry) in the thread header.

At any rate, all 10 pairs were sold within 1 week of the listing so this offer is expired until next run. Wasn't happy about being charged state sales tax this time- PA being the tax-thirsty state that it is unfortunately.
