Tired of cookies on your PC?

Everyone sick of having to go in and clean out cookies from your system?

You can set IE to prompt you before depositing a cookie on your PC. Mind you, some sites rely on cookies to be placed on your machine, such as online banking services (and Polk Audio Forums!).

After you do a clean sweep of all cookies from your machine, go to the following in Internet Explorer:

1. Tools
2. Internet Options
3. Privacy
4. Advanced

Click the check box "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" and click the 2 circles "Prompt".

The default setting is "Always allow all cookie sessions." WE DON'T WANT THAT!!!

Everytime you go to a website and it tries to deposit a cookie on your machine, you'll be prompted to either allow it or block it. You can also click on "Always Allow" or "Always Block."

Again, watch which ones you block. If it's a trusted site, like Polk Audio, then allow it. If it's the numerous **** sites that Dorokusai visits everyday, then BLOCK it!

You'll be amazed at how many cookies are attempted to be put on your machine!

    A warning about cookies.

In most cases, they are harmless. In some cases, they are security risks.

However, without cookies, if you visit sites like ClubPolk, you will need to log in every single time if you do not have the cookie set with your login credentials.

You can remove cookies manually though. You will have to goto your web browser's cache area and find the cookies you want to keep and back them up. If you turn off cookies and remove them all and reinsert your backed up cookies into the cache, you shouldn't lose your easy login abilities. Otherwise, you are SOL and will have to log in to view the site every single time.

    Glad you also stressed that!

WATCH WHICH ONES YOU BLOCK! Online banking services especially have to place a cookie on your machine or you can't go to the site. The Polk Forum needs to place the cookie on your machine!

If you block it (or allow it) by mistake, you can always go back into:

    1. Tools
    2. Internet Options
    3. Privacy
    4. Edit

You can choose the website from the list to change the cookie setting.

When you see cookies for sites like hornyhos.com, block the hell out of it!

FYI: The Internet Options path does not work for all versions of Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, Mosaic or any of the non-IE web browsers. Most of the newer versions will allow you to get to the cache files through the Internet Options though.

Yes, this is a very nice feature for IE6. You may also want to disable active scripting if visiting questionable sites. They are notorious for auto downloading trojan horse viruses.

Do you know how many times those things have gotten me busted for ****. I hate cookies. She will know somethig is up if the anti cookie windo keeps coming up. It had to be a woman that invented those things. You have to hit twenty buttons to get rid of them. Now i don't even bother.
