Hey guys!
Just found this little free gem on the net. Saw an article in the paper today about Spyware and this free download. It's apparently one of the best Spyware killers out there. Scroll to the bottom of the page and download from one of the mirror sites.
Here's the link:
http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=download
Again, it's a free download and works really well. Run the scan and you'll be amazed at what has been placed on your PC. You can even go through each item and see exactely what it does and what site placed it there. It will clean out your system and prevent further spyware from being placed on your PC.
Happy Spyware hunting!
John

I'd recommend downloading Ad Aware 6 also and using it in conjunction with SpyBot. SpyBot is more effective with Ad Aware 6. Ad Aware 6 will stop spyware processes from running and remove the executables. SpyBot then goes through and removes all the ancilliary files AND any registry entries from the spyware.
Those ancilliary files and registry entries cannot be removed when processes are running. Therefore, SpyBot has to wait for your machine to reboot before it can stop the processes and kill them all. Ad Aware will halt processes and kill them but Ad Aware doesn't remove registry entries like SpyBot does. So using them together makes the two of them much more effective. Ad Aware doesn't get every single process but whatever Ad Aware doesn't get SpyBot is sure to get.
I also recommend a pop-up stopper like www.panicware.com's Pop-Up Stopper. If you don't have a browser that supports pop-up blocking like Mozilla does. Also, get a firewall like McAffee VirusScan 7.0 or even something simple like BlackIce.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Thanks for the heads up on Ad Aware. Just downloaded the FREE version from one of many mirror sites. No excuses!

I also forgot to mention that Ad Aware can be "hamfisted" at times when it comes to removing spyware. Just make sure you read what it is going to delete before you delete it.
SpyBot on the other hand, that has to be the cleanest running Windows program I have ever seen! It's like a surgeon, cutting out only what needs to be cut out and fixing registry entries that are affected by spyware but not needing removal. It exits clean too. It's so clean that WinXP Pro's error log rarely picks it up.
The dude who wrote SpyBot knows what he is doing! It's worth every penny I didn't pay for it and then some!Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I'm actually thinking about sending this guy some cash for a donation.
How often do you get software for free and it works without having to illegally copy it?
