Jolida CD Player Randomly Stops

I have a Jolida JD100 CD player that I purchased about 18 months ago from Jolida.net that randomly stops playing, the unit will then lock up and must be turned off/on to get the CD to eject. I left the unit unplugged for several hours to see if it would reset - no luck same issue. I have tried several different CD's all in pristine condition (no scratches), all with the same results.
Has anyone here had this issue and what was the fix?
I'm kind of wondering if buying through Jolida.net was a good idea, I got it during the price war that was going on with Jolida.com. I tried to see if Jolida.net has any info about where to send the unit for repair but the site just pops up with under construction and an email address.

I've spoken with the folks in Annapolis Junction, MD several times and found them to be very nice and helpful. Even though you didn't buy through them, they might assist (301) 953-2014.

Most likely the optical pickup (laser) has gone bad. If you know what you're doing, you can replace it yourself. If you're not sure, don't try it.Political Correctness'.........defined

I tried using one of those Lens Cleaning disks on the unit last night - NO change, still randomly stops, I guess it is time to find someone to repair the unit.
Speaking of finding someone to fix it, I thought I would send Jolida.net an email and see what they say, no luck I get one of those returned email messages. Lesson learned - buy from a reputable dealer.2-Channel System

Let me see if I can dig up Marc's direct e-mail at Jolida.net I'm not sure what the hell is going on over there. That site has been under construction for weeks!
What e-mail have you been using? I may have an "alternative" that may or may not get you a quicker response. Let me see if I can locate it.
In any case. It sounds like the homeboys mentioned above can address your problem, as could any competent repair shop if its just a laser assembly issue! But, if I'm not mistaken your unit has a two year warranty on all parts but tubes? So it is a bummer when all is said and done.

The paper work that I got with the unit from Jolida.net indicated there is only a 1 year warranty on CD players, they give you 2 years on their amps. The email address that I used is the one that is shown on the Jolida.net website.
I called JoLida.com in Maryland and told them I bought the unit used on Audiogon and they are going to repair it for me. I figured if they knew the unit was from .net they wouldn't service it. The unit is on its way to MD.2-Channel System

OK, sounds like you have it covered. As for the unit itself. They'll only be able to identify it if they pay attention to serial numbers, the internals are "exactly" the same as what .com sells! Pop the top, they're identical. In fact, all their "stock" came directly from .net even after the split (they had warehoused some units, then finally started trying to produce their own models fairly recently at another factory in China).
Good Luck!

Jolida took a serious hit in reputation due to a licensing issue a couple years ago and I'm not sure they have recovered. It's nice to see United Home Audio of Annapolis Junction, MD handle business as best they can since that place is top notch locally when it comes to high end audio. The "Tape Project" they have shown in many pages is an overpriced drama of medium but certainly glorious to look at and the fact they care about R2R speaks volumes. Some of the best recordings I've ever heard have been between them and my friends baseboard Stellavox in a small room. I'd take the Stellavox but I'm off subject by far....sorry to segway....ughCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Well I'm happy to report that JoLida.com has repaired my .net procured CD player, they did inform me that the unit was gray market and mentioned something about the factory selling the machines on their own after some dispute (but they still fixed it for $200). They said one of the voltage regulators had failed, and that they also needed to fix numerous cold solder joints on one of the circuits boards.
Since their shop is only about 20 miles from my office I decided to pick it up in person. We've all heard the expression - first impressions are everything - well after seeing their shop I came to the conclusion business is not going to well, the place just looked bad. I also understand that United Home Audio is one and the same place, I saw that there was one listening room that looked decent, nothing to high end though, it appears that they are selling DCM speakers which are a good value but not what I expected from a shop at this level.2-Channel System
