Like 200-300 megabytes....... was a 386 with like a 4 or 5 hundred meg drive... since then i had learned to build them myself and have had about 15 computers in the last 6 years... or more, My main machine im on now had a 30 gig hard drive which after 3 years was almost out of space on the C: drive so i bought a Maxtor 160 gig ata133 drive... the maxtor cd had a program that transferred all my data from the old drive to the new.. took about 4 hours to do.. but the new drive was setup like i never switched em, settings.. favorites, everything.. like a ghost copy..

Now this drive has oddles of space.....

my first computer didn't even HAVE a hard drive.

i had a 5.25" boot disk for DOS and a BASIC catridge to boot into BASIC. i thought it was the coolest thing when we got an external 3.5" drive. :)

oh it was an IBM PC Jr. if you must know :p

Dual 20 meg drives. I still have them *both*. (incase I ever need a couple make-shift anchors for a john boat)

8088 processor, 512k ram, dual 5.25" floppys, green screen, and a dot matrix on the ****-end.

My pops paid 5 grand for it, the latest and greatest.

    Cheers,

My first computer purchase was a MAC. It had a 25mhz processor, 25mb RAM and a 50mb HD.

Now...I have a 2 ghz P4 with an 80GB Western Digital HD, DVD drive, CD burner kickin at 56X and a GeForce 4 video card with 64mb DDR RAM.

My Server is my old P2 box running Win 2000 Advanced Server with 2 40GB HD's in a mirrored array for backup.

    Hand-built 486/66 w/ 4mb RAM (later, purchased 4 more mb for $30); 540mb HD; 1x CD-ROM drive, win 3.1, later win95.

NOW- AMD Athlon 2100+; 512mb DDR; 80gb HD, and a videocard w/ more memory and processing power than my original computer had altogether.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Same as Phantom. No HD at all. Apple IIe, I think, or was it IIc? Whatever. Got it in the early 80's. It had a better monitor than the Mac (bigger and color). But what absolutely **** graphics. I had a game called "Wizardry" that I'd play on it. No sound and graphics that look like they were drawn by a 4 yr. old. What a piece of junk.

And I paid something like $1200 for it. :D

64K of memory, no hard drive and a 5.25 inch 1541 disk drive

Commodore 64 with a color monitor.

First PC/Intel based system was a 286 with 32 megs of RAM and a 250 MB hard drive.

First Mac was a Performa 5200 with 16 megs of RAM and a 650 MB hard drive. Total crap.

Now I have a 1.6 GHz P4 with 1.0 GB of RAM and 380 GB of hard drive space.

that TI 99/4 or something like that. It had a tape recorder drive on it. After that it was the PC XT with a 10 mb hard drive. Then I really moved up to the PC AT with a 30mb hard drive.

First computer- Commodore 64. At the time I first had it, only way to save files was to record on a tape recorder. Soon after that, I got a 5 1/4 floppy drove. This was a great gaming machine during its time.

I got my first system back in 1989 when I returned from Germany -- 286 12MHz, DOS ver 4.01, 1MB RAM (expanded w/ 2MB card), 40 MB HD, 14 in green mono monitor, 1200 baud modem (later upgraded to 2400 baud modem), Epson bi-directional dot matrix printer, $1800. I was cookin' man!
