For those who has no side wall or don't want to hang it on the
wall, is tripod an option? I see some speaker tripod in demo room
holding up up 100 pounds.

I have the same delimna. I have no place to mount my left surround so I mounted it on an antique wood tripod. I think the tripod was used for land survey equipments. It looks really cool and serve as a showcase in the room. When I finish the room, in another two months, I will post pictures.

Since it will be seen, I think a tripod with character will add to the look. A carbon fiber tripod for a modern look, or a movie camera tripod would be apropriate also. Stay away from those plastic cam corder tripod. It would look very cheap. Just something to think about.
