$762 for a CS1000p?

I've been on the hunt for a cs1000p for a while. Just watched one go for 762 on the bay. It said it was brand new in the box, but hard to believe that for a 13 yr old speaker. Just seems like WAY too much for a speaker and technology that old. Someone must have really wanted it ......or am I off base and it's really worth it?

    Yea it would be cheaper to get a separate powered sub woofer and a regular center channel.

    I paid, and I am saying it to give some perspective, $250.00 for mine. And that my friend was in a veritable wasteland for all things Polk, Anchorage, Alaska. So keep looking and something else may show up. Never know, the 'NIB' may have been the tipping point.

    I was thinking of just replacing my cs350 with a cs400i. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears to only diff between the 400i and the 1000p is the dual 6" subs. I have never needed more bass withy the rt3000p subs and the Velodyne. Other than the cool factor of a monster center I don't see a huge advantage.

    I just can't see spending that kind of coin when the amp should be recaped sense those caps are up there in age plus if something goes wrong with it are all the parts even able to be found at this point?

    i scored a CS1000P in black for $450 shipped 6 weeks ago. You would think it was new when I got it out of the box...I am pleased !!!!
