For those riders that have never been, go. My "new" wife and I (we married at Mt Rushmore on Wednesday) had my '06 Street Glide shipped to Denver and we rode over the Rockies into Walden Co for the night. We were up early the next morning and got to Rapid City the following day. That ride over the Rockies was amazing!! We went into Sturgis on Monday, walked Main St and went to Full Throttle. The rest of the week we rode some of the most beautiful roads I have ever been on. Went to Devils Tower, Needles Hi-way, Spearfish Canyon, and so many more places that I am still overwhelmed. It was a true adventure and a thing to see. I know the typical image of Sturgis Rally is a bunch of fat bikers getting drunk at the Buffalo Chip, but that is the exception and not the rule. Everywhere we went people were friendly. It didn't matter what type of bike you rode in on, you rode out with a smile on your face. From a flatlander Florida boy, I was truly in awe of the mountains. I understand it's no big deal to those who are use to it but it was inspiring to me. We intend to return for the 75th Anniversary in 3 years.
