Before I purchased the LSi 15's, my 2 ch setup was M70's and a velodyne vrp-10 sub. I listen to a lot of blues and jazz, and really like the bass.
Part of the WAF deal for getting the LSi's was that I could move the subwoofer out of the living room. I was duely warned by members of this forum that if my taste required a lot of bass, that the 15's alone might not cut it. Well, basically this was the only way to get the 15's so I made the deal.
For the last 5 months, I have really enjoyed the 15's minus sub. Beautiful sounding speakers. Extremely satisfied with the purchase.
Today, for fun, I decided to hook the velodyne back up. We have re-arranged the living room and a corner spot has opened up. Now I know the vrp-10 is one of velodyne's pretty low end offerings, but regardless, back came the low end I was missing.
I am messing with the volume and crossover, but right now it is at 60% vol and crossed over at 60hz.
I know there are MUCH better subs out there, but for now this will work. Glad to have it back in my system.

Yup, the 15's work quite well but could use some help down low for movies. I know when I upgrade my sub I am going to look for one that goes really low which is going to cost a pretty penny, but until then my PSW125 does ok.
I find for music I still like it better in Direct mode myself."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on a 15" woofer tower speaker in both a sub and sub-less configuration. My only exposure to Velodyne products is their old CT-100. Might be considered "entry level" by some, but in my opinion it sounds fantastic.
I hope to have the opportunity to hear more of their subs in the future!
