hello all. I am getting a pair of fx 300i's delivered tomorrow and the plate of the stand is a tad bit smaller than the speaker itself. 6.5 x 6.5. What kind of material should I use to secure the pair on the stands. I do not want to drill screws into the speaker cabs. Am I looking at velcro??? Please share your experiences and where to get what I need.
Thanks

I've used velcro before, but I suppose it depends on how secure you need them. In my situation, I didn't really need to secure them, I just wanted the added security of the speakers not falling. Maybe some of the "Industrial Strength" velcro??

Some folks use Blu-tack, but it does leave a residue mark that may not come off. Another idea is to use 3M double sided foam tape. It comes in regular and heavy duty, which is basically permanent. The regular comes off without leaving a residue. I would not use the heavy duty if you ever want to remove the speakers from the stands.

BTW, nothing more on my walls. The Polk site states these speakers are goon on stands and I am putting them on stands. ear level baby!! as many concerts as I have played and been too, these ears need close by volume. If I mounted these little things on the walls, I'd be climbing the walls to hear em!!!

wait, I don't think they're supposed to be at ears level. they are "surround" speakers.

Dolby recommends they be above the listening position. But it's not like they have Gestapo going around inspecting people's installations.

I would probably drill a hole in the bottom and install a huricane nut from the inside. That way you have just a single threaded hole in the bottom. Then you can use a nice chrome Allen head bolt to attach it to the stand.

Why not just attach a bigger piece of wood to the smaller plate so its the right size? Paint the new cover to match.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and the speakers and stands are all in action. The stands came with little adhesive tabs and a couple of strips from a roll of Scotch double sided foam tape, these babies are sitting perfect, and sound great on the 27" stands, Watched a couple of movies last night and WoW!!!! Wouldn't change a thing.
