Coverage is too "selective"! Some events I'd like to see get no TV time at all! I'm mildly interesting in the Phelps saga. But not really that into swimming or as a friend of mine once said, if you broke into a fast jog poolside you could easily beat the fastest swimmer in the world, try that with Usain Bolt and he'd be done before you even started! lol Moving fast in water is not really moving that fast in relative terms.

Watching the sprints has been pretty cool.

And aren't the Olympics usually this long? I get no sense they are any longer this year.

....JUST wish the absolute BEST were allowed to COMPETE ! Best REALITY TV ever. Forgo your regular schedule and see what TV should be all about. These athletics have dedicated their life's to these sports. Beats listening to some ordinary music tryout....or other BOGUS reality TV. Watching celebrities dance ....bores me to tears. The talent on these music reality shows....does not compare to what any University Music School can beat. Garbage TV.... Europe had it 20 years ago.....cheap to produce. Sucker audience.

If the Olympics is really "in your face" then you may need to change some of your habits. My wife is really into it. With a Tivo I can make sure that even if the Tivo is recording the Olympics when I want to watch something else, I usually have something recorded that I like (TopGear on BBC for instance). Then I have Netflix for DVD's and streaming of just about everything else that suites me. Then of course I have way too many hobbies and chores to keep me occupied. So the Olympics is a non-issue for me.

BTW, BBC recently showed a TopGear Winter Olympics special from 2008 (? I think) that was hilarious. They launched a mini off a ski-jump using rocket engines. Way better than the real Olympics.

2 weeks as been the standard for as far back as I can remember. If you don't like it, don't tune in.

This happens every two years and has for the past 30 Olympics.

Turn off the TV and turn on the stereo.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

I love the Olympics. It is fun watching some of these obscure sports, and the talent/fitness of the athletes is amazing. I really enjoy the beach volleyball and swimming/diving, but I like all of the events.

Having the Olympics spread out every two years is perfect, and every four years between each one is ideal (summer/winter).

Sit back and enjoy the competition and sport. I don't know why people get so negative. I consider the Olympics a welcome break from a lot of the repetitive stuff that usually fills the airways.

And it certainly beats any of that brain dead reality garbage. I would rather turn the TV off than watch any Big Brother, Idol or other junk like that.

Four weeks? What are you smoking? The opening ceremony was on July 27th. It will be over on this Sunday. That's just over two weeks long. They just about always span 3 weekends, so this is no longer than normal. Personally, I've always loved watching the summer Olympics (not so much the winter). What else is there to watch on network TV in late summer anyway? Bunch of horrid reality shows typically.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

The Olympics is way mo better than pro football or basketball. The Olympics has girls, the others do not. That makes it way mo better. I guess you don't watch football or BB for a whole season since your complaining.

Enough Bob Costas. Enough Ryan Seacrest and his stupid social media segment. Enough Mary Carillo and tours of the Twinings tea shop. I'd be ready for more if they actually showed some athletics.
