I have my used AI-1 Dreadnaught built per DK's instructions using the Avel Lindberg Y236906 800VA transformer. I installed Cardas CCRR (Rhodium plated binding posts) and had a custom box built in a glossy black color. I believe the total cost for parts was approximately $245.00. I will sell it for $270.00 shipped to CONUS. I have pictures from the original thread after I made it about 2 1/2 years ago included below as well as a link to the original thread http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?95053-Finally-got-the-AI-1-box-finished-but-I-still-need-the-speaker-cableshere. I have also since added dynamat to the case and the transformer itself. The case is made of aluminum and still looks beautiful and glossy as in the pictures. I have also added what each binding post is connected to using tape and a sharpie on the back. That is: right pin, left pin, right blade, left blade. Please ask any questions you might have either in the thread or PM. This is not as good as the 1000VA dreadnaught, but unless you have or are getting in on the group buy and/or have the skills to assemble one of these it will be good to buy a pre-assembled "Dreadnaught". You will be very happy with this one as it looks and sounds fantastic and is made entirely of high quality parts. It works perfectly (like the day it was assembled).

P.S. For some reason I cannot get rid of the 2 newer pictures that are posted below the older ones. The two at the bottom are the newer Dreadnaught I built with the 1000VA transformer. Please disregard these as I can't delete them for some reason (If a moderator can get rid of them, I'd appreciate it). The top 4 pictures are of the Dreadnaught you are purchasing.

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Gotta say to those who haven't tried the Dreadnought that, though they were designed to be used with non-common ground amps, they also bring huge improvements to systems using common ground amps.

I'm using an 800VA exactly like the one for sale and the improvement is not subtle!

Man that's a slick looking case!

Hey question on this sale - did you ship this fully assembled, so the transformer was bolted to the case? I'm planning on selling mine when the 1000va transformer arrives from AL, I just want to make sure there's no problem shipping it assembled. I'm thinking of packing the case with styrofoam peanuts around the transformer to stabilize it during shipping, and whoever buys would just remove them upon receipt.

rigid foam would be a better option to secure it in place better as you could build it around it. Peanuts are not going to support that hunk of iron and copper.

Yeah, good idea, I think I have some foam pieces that I could make work. Just thinking in advance, my 1000va won't arrive until December.

Yeah, I shipped it fully assembled but packed extremely well. It also probably helped that it only shipped form Oregon to Washington state. I used a combination of rigid foam and peanuts and there was absolutley no movement of the case or the transformer inside the case.

I didn't want to bug you about it Larry as I knew you were busy. I figured you would remember eventually or when you were less busy I would remind you. This thread took care of it. No sweat Larry, just get it out when you can. Thank you and let me know if you need my addy again. I sent a PM with it, but that was almost 2 months ago now, LOL!
