It's going to be the C.E.C. CD3300. CEC is the high-end division of Sanyo Optronics, Ltd. Audio Advisor is the sole importer of this player so far. I spoke with a rep at AA and he said it's the best CD Player they sell under $1000 bucks. It has 24bit/192kHz Burr Brown DAC's (same type used in the MMF Maverick). This is a very intriguing CD Player, single-ended output, pure Class A and very solidly built. $499.

Here's more info: http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/productdetail.asp?sku=CECCD3300&product_name=CEC%203300%20CD%20Player

My Cambridge Audio D500SE is up for sale in the Flea market.

    Steve,

I take it you're not interested in any of the new formats (SACD, DVD-A)? If not, sounds like it's a solid CD player.

I ask because the Denon 2200 (around $600) also utilizes Burr Brown DAC and supports both the above mentioned formats - as well as awesome DVD pic quality.

    Just something to think about.

I'm not quite ready to take the SACD plunge yet, but thanks for the recommendation.

Steve, congrats on the new CD player.

Duffman, FYI not all Brown-Burr DAC's are created equal. I honestly don't know about these two players, just that because it says B-B DAC doesn't mean a whole lot.

Thanks bud, I'm not too fond of the "pimp-gold" color, but I'm a "form follows function" kinda guy.

Steve - Very nice player. You could set it up on a small Zebra striped blanket, to match that Pimp Gold :)
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

LMAO...I HATE that color, but oh well. At least my Parasound equipment has gold accents on it....

Grats Steve, let us know what you think once you've had alittle time with.

eclypse, killer machine, very soon I'll be moving up from the 2200 to the 2900.

I was having a real struggle with choosing between the Music Hall MMF CD-25, and the CEC CD3300, so I jetted an email off to the guys at AudioAdvisor. Here's Joe's reply:

    Stephen:
I would go with the CEC. We have listened to both side by side. The CEC has better inner detail and air. Since they are the same price, I would go with the CEC.

A review will be forthcoming once I get this D500SE sold, and I can order the CEC.
