Hi All,
Ill be moving across states in 2 weeks. I wanted to know where I could get packaging for my 2 Polk Audio Monitor 70's Floor Standing Speakers. I lost the orignal packing due to water damage in storage and I would really like to make sure they are packaged correctly when I transport them. Does anyone know where I could get the original boxes for them or similar packaging.

Hello selousscout22,
I believe Polk sells the shipping cartons and internal packing via their CS department, call 1-800-377-7655 for information. Because of the flat rate shipping it can be fairly expensive to ship from their warehouse, but give them a call. Or, send an email to polkcs@polkaudio.com
Regards, Ken -
They do in fact sell shipping materials and if you just need cardboard, it's fairly cheap. If you need a full set of materials, it's not overly expensive but expect about $50-75+. I think its a great idea and I like to grab original cartons if at all possible as well.
MarkCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I would just wrap them in a blanket.AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808
Amplifier: Carver A-753x 250 watts x 3
Fronts: Polk RTI A7 (modded by Trey VR3)
Center: CSI A4 (modded by Trey VR3)
Rear: FXI A4
Sub: Polk DSW Pro 660wi
TV: LG Infinia 50PX950 3D
Speaker Cable: AudioQuest Type 8
IC: AudioQuest Black Mamba II -
For internal packing materials you could go to Lowes or HD and buy sheets of insulating foam. Probably about $5 each. Pick the thickness/ style of foam (more or less firm) you think will provide the most protection
Cut to fit, tape in place. I think that's what VR3 does when he ships items he sells large heavy items and buyers universally report no shipping damage."Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer -
I buy 1 and 2 inch foam. 1" 4x8 sheet is 13 and 2" 4x8 sheet is 25.I would consider it fool proof packaging.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Or you could sell them and get a brand new pair shipped to your new address for 500.00 bucks  Great excuse anyway.

Thanks everyone. I called over to Polk to try and get the original packing, but even the guy I spoke to there said Id be paying an arm and a leg to get these shipped out to me. He gave me the dimensions I need for packaging. I think Ill go with acquiring some of that foam from Lowes or something and cutting it to size. Thanks everyone. You'all rock!

Go to a local lumber yard or hardware store, that get appliances shipped in. When I have moved, I always try to find oven/range boxes, and dishwasher, or washing machine boxes. They are the strongest, and most rigid (usually with triangular corner protectors that slide inside the box), and they usually have quite a few and they are free.Yamaha RX-A710
