Can't sleep, so I'm watching the live feed on the NASAtv website. Curiosity has some very advanced equipment that is much more sophisticated than what was on the smaller, previous rovers. Curiosity is also much larger. Its test vehicle is shown in the pic below on the right. Look how huge it is compared to the first rover, in the middle. It'll be exciting to see what it learns over the coming days/weeks/months.

Couldn't sleep either, and could have spent the time doing some tasks I've needed to do for a while, but ..... the heck with it.

Not exactly sure why, but I'm as pumped for this Mars mission as I was back in the day during the first moon landing.

For those who missed the live feed, here's a Youtube video of the 5 minutes before, 5 minutes after touchdown.
Engineers go nuts at about the 5:40 mark when "Touchdown Confirmed".

Apologies to the Skycrane, although I always had complete confidence in you.

Interesting what we can do when we put our minds to it. Hopefully this new one will find something.....like the complete cast of "Lost ".

Seriously, I love this stuff. Another step in getting off this rock. Who knows, maybe someday we will find out all humans are actually Martians.

It would be great if the beginning of the Transformers movie started when the first video shot came thru.....

Very exciting to see the space program get something done again. I thought since the shuttle program was done the most exciting thing was going to see the Endeavour come to So-Cal
Well the good news is if there is a problem those 2 nice Martian dudes could fix it.
