Hi folks,
My new rav4 came with a pretty poor sound system. I'd like to do a stealth install (without subwoofer). I'm interested in doing a front door only install. Doors will be properly prepped/deadened. Will use MM6501's with 100w rms+.
Usually it's recommended to highpass them and use a sub.
My question- Is anyone running these speakers full range? They're rated to 40hz.
How do they sound full-range?
Thanks

I have mine crossed at 60 Hz for SQ purposes. However I have shifted the xover point to 20Hz briefly to see ow they do, and they handle it fine. They may cause some rattle in your doors though.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I'll use a subsonic filter to cut it off where it starts sounding bad

I highly recommend using dynamat on the doors. That will increase midbass/bass and stop rattling. Also, -3db set on the crossover will probably make the tweeters blend better with the mid (depending on location of course).

Does the Passive crossover cut off at the 40hz? I wouldnt want to have it trying to play something to low for it and mess up the speaker.

No there is no HPF on the woofer. I really wouldn't worry about it unless you play tons of low end techno stuff. If you really want, just get a bit ten processor and tune away.

I would not worry, I had the db components with 70W, in my car for a year before before I got a HU with a HPF and they did fine. Just don't clip the signal.
