15' pasive sub...help needed

I picked up a set of speakers that included a 15" passive sealed sub. The speakers turned out to be highly modded in a bad way, non original drivers...basically Frankenstein's. Money into them is nothing much so I am not too concerned. The sub however may have potential. Dual VC. I am using the plate amp output, wires off a 180 watt plate disconnected from the driver to run to this 15" sub. There are 2 -/+ inputs on the sub, I have 1 +/- coming off the plate amp.
What is the best way to hook this up to run both VCs?

Need to know what the driver is (e.g. - dual 2-ohm VC, dual 4-ohm VC) and output of the plate amp. Model would also work to look up specs. Depending on that information you can figure out how to wire it to work properly.

Not sure knowing the driver and specs is that important since this is a stock passive sub. Amp output again is 180 watts. There are 2 inputs, and 2 outputs.--Gary--

you can use both voice coils on one channel just make sure the impedance is fine with your plate amp .
Every plate amp I saw can only do 4-8 ohms .
Since this is a stock sub you need a voltmeter to check the impedance .
if you wire the amp with 8 ohms and its 4 ohm stabile you will only get half the amps power , if you wire it at 2 ohms and the is not 2 ohm stabile you will kill the amp . -
Agreed, if it looks like a "house speaker" hook it up paralell, an wire it to amp, listen to it, make sure no distortion, if there's distortion or sounds like bs, hook it up series, do this if you can find a ohm meter like one guy said, if you can if each coils resistance is around 6 or 7 ohms then it is most likely a 8ohm voice coil, so youl be ok wiring those in paralell, if it reads around 3ohms, then its prolly a 4ohm coil,wire those in series, youl only get around 70 watts to it, but is better than nothing I guess!?
