the pre is set to phono and he's holding a cd?

And even if he is contemplating playing the CD next....how can the phono even work?

Hopefully, it was just an oversight by the contracted advertiser and not something deeper???

I thought it was the words "High-end" being used in an Emotiva ad, obviously in violation of "Truth In Advertizing" statutes.

I agree that the record will sound like crap without a stylus.

Obviously without the cartridge, he is most likely impressed by the overall lack of sound on his latest Goodwill find used LP, having heard about the distracting 'tics and pops' which plague that medium. He is about ready to fire up his CD player and get a taste of 'perfect sound' and see if there is any comparison. That smile says a lot.

I find the best way to listen to the latest goodwill find vinyl is without a cartridge, if good will is your only source for that medium then why even bother. I think he's smiling cause he knows he is about to listen to another over compressed recorded cd something that plagues that medium as of late.

He is still holding the CD in his hand. Case is in his left, CD in his right. So my guess is...He bashed the tone arm in to the side of the plater, smashing the cartridge, so he grabbed a CD and had not changed the input yet. Which is why he has that I'm an idiot grin on his face as he is trying to look for the instructions on how to insert the CD into the player.

    Or...

The dumb grin could because the only thing he knows about in the picture is the CD.

    Or...

It could be......(said really fast)an oversight by Emotiva.

How about the extreme toe-in of his speaker? Looks like the sweet spot is 2-3 feet in front of his rack. Must be a small place....maybe a studio rental in San Francisco?

Further, how about the proximity of his speaker/rig to the window? That's a no-no! He's likely to have some sun damage over time. If memory serves me correctly, I think there was someone on this site who was recently trying to sell a pair of RTi's (28s or 35s?) that the color of one didn't match the other as a result of sun fading.

Clearly its telling current Emotiva owners that they need to rethink their purchase and buy real high-end gear if they truly want to enjoy their music.

I think this must be an older picture as you can clearly see through the window the Cabrinni Green housing comlex.

If that's true, the main thing wrong with the picture is that the gentleman doesn't have his curtains closed. He might want to stack his Emotiva speakers up against the windows for fragmentation protection.

BTW: I didn't know Emotiva offered speakers. I guess I need to keep more up to date on Emotiva products.
