How does the polymer dome and tri-lam dome compare?
I am curious as to what to do here...
How does the polymer dome and tri-lam dome compare in sound? traits?
bright? laid back? detailed? muffled?
If the polymer dome sounds very similar to the RT35i then I will move my RT35i to surround duty as the cabinets have become of age. Not nothing terrible, just tired of looking at the tops where the rubber feet were tore off. Polk really needs to rethink that....that glue material they use rips the black dy finish right off.
Anyways, how do these tweeters compare?
BTW - Im looking at a RT5 and RT35i. FWIW

I have a pair of RT5 and even today I still think they're GREAT bookshelf speakers. It's hard to say which one is better. They're pretty close to the tri-lams. IMO, the tri-lam has more bite and a slightly brighter sound. The polymer sounds smoother and a little warmer but overall the RT5 sounds a lot warmer than the 35i IMO. They sound fantastic with classical and softer stuff but they can still rock as hard as the 35i.

Forgot the rest of your questions. The polymer is a little more laid back with great detail. No muffled sound at all. I doubt you'll be able to tell the tweeters apart for HT. I like the RT5 more than the 35i.

The RT5 will be here Saturday, I'll have to give them a listen if they're close. RT35i has been with me for 2-3 years now. Gonna be hard to put it on a shelf. Oh well, we shall see.
