TV Problems

I've had my Samsung 58" plasma for a year and a half or so, and am having an issue with it. It's hard to describe, but I'm getting some dark streaking occasionally across the top of the screen. I've tested multiple cables and multiple sources and have bypassed the receiver, so I believe I've narrowed the issue to the TV at this point.

I've included a short video of what it's doing, take a look and let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Apparently I"m out of my warranty period, called Samsung and of course they were no help. They want $250 just for a tech to come look at it, I guess they have to fly him out all the way from Korea.

That is strange, I don't think there is an easy fix---does it do it with both BluRay and TV broadcasts?

If your running HDMI, maybe try running a component input just to see if that makes any difference?

I have tested different sources of the TiVo and Apple TV boxes, have not had a chance to test the Oppo yet. That is a good thought on testing the component input, I'll have to see if I can find component cables somewhere.

Tonight I'm also going to bring another TV into the living room and test it, just to officially narrow the issue to the TV itself. Then I'll start doing tests to see if I can narrow it further to a specific function or section of the TV by testing more inputs and sources as you suggested.

I know it's a pain in the butt, but BestBuy will bench test TV for free in store. You have to get it there which is a hassle, but one more idea for someone who is out of options.
