Ceiling mounting your surrounds
Was wondering if anyone has their rear speakers ceiling mounted. I was thinking of doing that with my Rti28's. They're currently hanging by a nail on the rear wall about 2.5 feet off the ground. At this level, they inconspicuously melt into the room. I realize that's not ideal, but aesthetically, it wouldn't look right to hang speakers on the wall in our den any higher than they already are.
Recently, I was curious and aimed the speakers towards the sitting position. They sounded 10x better. Now the trick is to make it permanent while at the same time making it flow aesthetically.
Is ceiling mount a good option? If someone out there does that, what type of mounts did you use? Did you have to drill into your speakers to mount them?

So how would hanging your speakers from the ceiling make them any less aesthetically than on your back wall? Now if you got the in-ceiling speakers installed thats a different story; maybe you should look into getting those for your surrounds.Mains: Polk RTi70's

My walls are made of beautiful judge's paneling, so I don't want to hang stuff on the walls themselves. There's also the WAF. to consider. In regards to getting in-ceiling speakers installed, I have no interest in doing that. There's no flexibility with that option.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub
