These tubes have about 500 hours on them if I could guess, so they are already burned in and seasoned for you. They hold their bias great, and almost never need to be adjusted once set-up in the amp. I'm only selling them because EL34s are a better match to my horns, so I'll be investing in a pair of =C= EL34s instead. These corner horns are the only speakers I've owned where the EL34s sounded better than these 6L6GCs.

From The Tube Store review of the Winged "C" 6L6GC tube: "This may be the closest thing available if you really want the vintage sound of the large bottle Sylvania and RCA tubes of yesterday. Tremendous harmonic content and an overall depth in sound make these another excellent choice for the purist. They can handle solid plate voltages and are very well constructed. Consider these 6L6 tubes as an excellent choice for any type of music, delivering crystal cleans and smooth breakup with plenty of punch. Unequaled clarity and complex harmonics, plenty of sustain and depth."

Can these be used in place of EL-34s?
-
They are not a direct replacement, but many amps can run both with bias adjustments; as mine can. What amp would you be putting theses in?
-
An Anthem Amp-1.
-
Based on the manual, I don't think so as it recommends only EL34s, but maybe someone else has other experience.
-
Gotcha. Thanks. Anybody out there know?
-
Give the manufacturera call and ask them. It usually depends on if the bias has a wide enough range to accomodate both types of tubes.

If you need 6L6GC's these are fantastic. As close to the coveted RCA that you will find at 1/4 the cost. These are the only current 6L6GC that are rich in harmonics and crystal clear like the 6L6GC's of yesteryear. I was very pleasantly surprised how good these sound as I generally am not a fan of newer production tubes.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
