Changing stylus

Hey guys. I'm changing the stylus on my Sony turntable and I don't get any sound out of the unit with the new stylus. What am I doing wrong? This is the first time I've changed one.

What cartridge is it? Is the new stylus seated firmly, is it the correct one for the cartridge? I'm assuming when you say "stylus" you are talking about replacing a worn stylus into a moving-magnet cartridge. What cart are you using?Jay

Hmm.. Got all your connections made (did you disconnect phono inputs, or cartridge leads?) Are you sure the new stylus is seated fully? I'm not by any means an expert on this, but am hoping that by thinking out loud something will shake out...
Any similar problems with the turntable before replacing the stylus? Hope you get 'er rolling soon.Jay

No just less than stellar sound. It's a cheap turntable but I could tell the old stylus was getting worn. I will check to make sure I have it seated correctly. It SEEMS to go on just one way.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.
