Is it just me or are any of you guys "highly" anticipating the upcoming release of the "Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla"? I have been waiting for this book for the past couple of YEARS. When I heard that he was retiring I nearly **** myself. "What... retiring.. he can't retire.. he can't even DIE yet.. he's gotta finish the 'DT' series." But now the news is out and the books are coming. Even better than that, King originally stated in the afterword of "Everythings Eventual" that he was working on the last of the "DT" collection before retiring. If you are a "die hard" fan like myself then you already know that in the afterword of "Darktower III: The Waste Lands" he stated that he was going to write 3 more novels in the series bringing the total to 6 books overall. Now he has released a box set of the 1st three books and the list of the new books in the series to come. And he has changed the total to SEVEN books. To be released over the next couple of years. Kick ****! The new books are as follows:
"The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla"
"The Dark Tower VI: Susannah's Song"
"The Dark Tower VII: Dark Tower"

These books are destined to be the greatest "collection" of novels in history. Right along with the "LOTR" trilogy (given that you have the "Hobbit" to complete the series). Any serious collectors have to get this set. Or else... you're not a serious collector.... or something like that.

Stephen King is the GOD of Literature!

    Polkanizer....

Thank you so much for the heads up!! I had no idea that another book was coming out. I am a huge fan of the series. I personally liked Wizard and Glass the best. I found it very intriguing, and it really gave a good history of Roland, and a good backdrop into the world of the Dark Tower.

    Thanks again nizer:)

If you liked the back story and cross strories then you should check out "The Talisman" and "Black House", these books cross over into the realm of midworld and refer to it as the "territories". Great books. Also check out the "Regulators" and "Desperation". I love the way SK links all his books together in some way or another. They recently released a book called "The World of Stephen King" which reveals that every place King has created for his stories actually exist as parts of Roland's world. Even Castle Rock and Derry Maine. Very good basis. It shows the map of how all Kings worlds coexists as beams on the Tower in Midworld and Rolands memories of the travels through the 3 doors on the beach in "DT2: Drawing of the 3". Check it out, it's a must read.

Saw the box set for sale today when I was shopping (first 4 books). I really wish I had more time to read these as I'm a big S.K. fan.

I've read some of his others like IT and Skeleton Crew. Loved them! I have a few more in my collection that I picked up used years back. They're the original hard bound releases of The Stand and Pet Cemetary. Haven't even gotten around to reading them yet, but I wanted to have the original released hard bound editions in my collection.

    S.K. RULES!!!

I've got a wide variety of his books in my collection. Even have some in both paper and hardback. The 1st book I ever read by him was "The Tommyknockers"... over 2000 pages. That book freaked me out. And from then on I was hooked on SK. :D

I prefer SK's more toned down "horror" books. the first book i read by SK was "Eyes of the Dragon". Still one of my favorite books of all time. not really freaky or scary, just a good story.

"Eyes of the Dragon" did have a great plot. But did you know that the character "Flagg" was the same apocolyptic guy from "The Stand"? He is also "Roland's" new enemy in the "Dark Tower IV". He also appeared briefly in "Desperation" and "The Regulators" as well as "Insomnia" though under different names. "Flagg" is King's representation of evil in the form of man, and the basis that evil is everlasting and ever changing.

I bought the new book today, plus the Gunslinger, and the Drawing of the Three. I think I am going to read the first two to get a feel for it again.

Wastelands I can do without. Out of the three it is my least favorite.

Most people thought Blain was an ****. The train part was a little to extended. But the opening into DT4 was good.

I loved watselands..the last one (Wizard and Glass) was the weakest out of them all for me. Looking forward to the new one though
