Need Purchase Advice ASAP :)

I have the opportunity to purchase a set of EXCELLENT condition black RT3000p's... I just need to know... is $700 too much for the pair? I mean, if they really are in excellent, lightly used condition, am I getting ripped off? There's no shipping in that, as they're only an hour drive. I know they're hard to find, and I think that's a pretty decent deal. Please let me know asap as I'll be going to get them in the next few days, and if I don't go with those, I need to know soon as I see another set of speakers that I would purchase instead, if this is a bad deal. Thanks!! (fyi: I already have a set of RT2000p's I'll be shifting to the sides, and the RT1000p's to the rears, and I'm currently using a Csi40 for center, but will change to a CS400/CS400i soon)

isn't the tweeter the same as the the rt55 and the rt2000p?
and I agree, if they are in excellent condition and in full working order they are well worth that price and more.design is where science and art break even. -
Last question then.... RT3000p's or a pair of Martin Logan Clarity Bs? I think the rt3000p's are rarer, but the ML Claritys are ESL I think, which I've heard a different pair of ESLs and they're pretty wicked.... idk.... :-/ I'm thinking the 3000p's, but yeah...LivingRoom

Oh, and found a psw1200 (thought those look pretty wicked with dual 12s) but then seen that the guy replaced the amp with a JBL Bass 20 2 ch amp that is 100 watts per ch.... askin 250 for it... I could probably talk him down, but with the amp replaced with a different amp, should I bother touching it? I've always wondered how sick it sounds, but with that amp... ? lolLivingRoom

Guess it wouldn't hurt to also ask... I have Onkyo 709 and I've spotted a very well priced Integra 30.3 receiver... I assume the 709 trumps it, but I know Integra's a pretty good brand... aren't they similarly manufactured or something? Sorry for all the questions, I just love to learn and then pass on knowledge.LivingRoom

Ahhhh gotchya! Though I thought I read that the 30.3 is more comparible to the 609 rather than the 709... wasn't sure if I should pick it up... I can get it for probably 250 in perfect condtion with remote.... no mic I think.LivingRoom

Eh, its more of a crap shoot nowadays between Onkyo and Integra when talking about the lower models of Integra. Your 709 is probably close if not better than the 30.3. The parts used in the Integra and overall design will be better than the Onkyo. That said the 709 has got a better EQ as its got Audyssey XT whereas the 30.3 only has 2EQ which I have in my Integra DTR-5.9. I am upgrading to the 709 myself.
Integra is the brand most speciality stores and custom installers carry whereas Onkyo is for the online and brick and mortar stores.

The cost of replacement parts and panels will cost you more than the speakers, one guy messed up a woofer on some sl3's and they want $750 for that one part. Another fellow wanted replacement panels for clz's and he thought it would be $950 but its been raised to 3K overnight, avoid the older logan models at all 'costs' -
Bought the RT3000p's, woot! I love em! Not entirely sure where I should set the crossovers on the lower cabs, and unless I can find an exceptionally priced cs1000p (heh), is the cs400 or cs400i a better match for the rt3000p's?LivingRoom

True... I think the only difference, aside blue woofers, between the the non-i and i versions (aside from a few cosmetic exceptions like the rt1000 i vs p), is the crossover. Guess I'll try to snag this one cs400 that supposedly in perfect condition. Paying $100, decent price. I'm just happy the 3000's I just got were mint, lucky... never thought I'd EVER find a local pair, much less in as good condition. Once again, thanks DSkip Appreciate it!LivingRoom

What do those words mean.... ..... you can never have too much ...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
LoL... you should have seen my upstairs neighbor's face when I answered the door the other day... I cracked the door open (mind you, after 5 minutes of the newest transformers) and she asked if I "had speakers on the floor".... I was like, "a few"... yeeeeaahh, she said things around her apartment and on her walls were vibrating LoL... my 12s were up almost half, the 3000s were all the way down, as were the other towers subs receiver 60% (I've built this system for a house that I plan to purchase some century)... it's a 800sq/ft apartment lol....... too funny, I'm not one to be abnoxious and bother others, but it really didn't sound like much... these apartments have solid walls and floors too... 1st Fl here...LivingRoom
