Bi-wiring Polk RTi A7's

I was just wondering is it possible to Bi-wire the A7's to an amp. Particularly, the Emotiva XPA-2?

It doesn't look too possible, at least with that Amp.

Now, I've seen a Polk Amp that looks like you're able to bi-wire a pair of speakers to them.

So, it is possible to bi-wire the A7's to the XPA-2? Is bi-wiring even possible with an amp?

Thanks for the help.

The only reason i'm running an Adcom 5400 on my center channel is because i own it. Get yourself a nice amp and enjoy it.

It's only 200 watts at 4 ohms? The XPA-2 is 300 watts, just enough to fully power the A7's..

That is why I bought the Adcom GFA 555 and switched the 5400 to bi-amp my center channel.

You don't need 300 watts to fully power the A7'S.

Bi-wire is simply running 2 sets of cables from each speaker post from the amp to the speaker, or get a bi-wire cable made for such. Nothing special is needed on the amp or receiver side.

I understand why Bi-wiring is, I was just wondering if it was possible with an amp because I could only find a video online of it being done with a receiver. I suppose that raises one more question, can you use banana plugs on an amp? :loneranger:

MOST amps yes. If its a newer amp you should be fine, there are some exceptions to this rule but doubt you will run into one.

The EMO XPA-2 on its own can not be bi amped but it can be bi wired. If you were asking about Bi-amping, it can be done with an amp as long as it has 4 channels or you use two amps.

Recievers that have 7.1 and higher usually state that you can use the extra channels to bi amp your speakers, which is using a channel in the amp that is not being used for a speaker. I tried this with my current amp and did not find it to be any advantage. In fact it was using more power to drive all channels in the amp thus reducing the power per channel. Just telling my story, if you want to bi-amp fill your boots.

You can use banana plugs in amps and most recievers.

About the 4 ohms, A7's ( I owned a pair) are 8 ohm speakers so you will not be using the 4 ohm setting.

Here is a link showing bi wiring. Note pic two at the bottom, this is how the EMO XPA-2 could be hooked up for bi wiring.

    Good luck with your choices.

Okay, I figured that much, this guy here won't be buying any vintage style amp, so I should be okay

    Thank you, that's good information.

Now, I have one more question, regarding that #2 photo you were referring to, where the wires are being plugged into the amp, there are 2 sets of positive and negative wires going into each port (Left and Right), won't that short something out if both positive wires and negative wires touch, or is there a way to individually plug them in (of course bi-wired)?

    Thanks again

Bi-wire = buy more wire , there is no benefit to doing this , its a gimmick IMO . Unless you are using wire that is too thin for the job then 2 runs of wire would be beneficial.... Just use the correct gauge wire to begin with and all is well.

Bi-amping or tri-amping is only useful if you bypass the speakers passive crossovers and use active crossovers with separate amps for the lows , mids and highs. (not 2 or 3 different channels from the same amp). Extremely expensive!
