Looks like a good deal for someone out in the Northeast. I don't know how much these usually go for, but that seems well below what I read on the threads here.

My buddy brought them home this morning. They are in mint condition and the seller was the original owner. Awesome score and then some for the price paid. Now the fun part starts for him with all the mods available.

Yeah, that is an awesome score knowing they are mint and the original owner. Glad to see someone who appreciates them bought them and got a good deal.Speakers

X2.
It's nice to see who got the deal keeping something istead of flipping it for more cash. UNLESS said person really needs to make a fast buck for pressing issues other than greed. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
No flip here; This is his first pair of sda's and I'm betting he'll be in here asking questions about mods and set up.

You do realize the whole world revolves around flipping goods for profit? So if this guy decides these are not his cup of tea he should only sell them for what he paid for them? I never understood comments like this..
Now I do understand passing on a good deal from Polkie to Polkie here on the forum but outside that you get what you can get with out ripping people off that is..
We all know those speakers can range from $1000-$1500 if he decided to sell them for anywhere between that good for him.. -

Once he pays for it, it's his.
Now, whether he keeps it or sells it for $1000 profit or sells at $200 and loses $400, or just gives to his relative for free, it's his money, his speakers.
Yes, also agree on not taking advantage of people. I have in few occasions taken less than posted price in CL transactions when the buyer showed up to buy speakers at my posted price and I knew I had high price expecting some negotiation.
I negotiated myself for the buyer and dropped price to what I felt comfortable.

X3. That's essentially how I pay for his hobby. If I was not able to make some money on some stuff I would not have the gear that I do.If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Larry's talking to me like that? wow.
I actualy gave you more $ ( I wished it was more at the time)than you asked for on the set of rings I bought from you to help with your $ margin with no thank you in return but that was fine That was fine and an honorable jesture on my part in gratitude. Now you're sitting there making me out to be ignorant **** about commerce and greed and morals and lifes challenge to make as much $ with out crossing a line to this forum.
I haven't been at home for 3 or more years partly due to medical reasons and selling off my audio collection without thinking about gas and time spent hunting it down and fair market value vs. helping a person get great audio deals due to me passing things along.
I know how this world works alot more than most do so please don't jokingly insinuate I'm an idiot without a clue again.
I honestly didn't mean to somehow lead one to think the person sell them for "his cost" instead of the " just to make a fast buck" statement.Of course he/she has the right to do wtf he/she wants to do, I DO KNOW THAT. I've accepted the concept for at least46 years now. How old are you...
I've known the biblical story of the man who gave the donkey to the boy who then gave it to another boy. I've know that that business deal speaks of ALL giving and selling deals. You give up ownership, that's it.
I guess I hate flippers because I've been duped by 2 people thinking I was helping them out in the past 3 years. I pass on the deal just to see it on craigs list the next day in their city for twice what they paid me. The one swore it was for personal and since he had the right to do what he pleased I just sulked a little.Then a couple of weeks later he sold a set of CRS+'s with stands for 250.00 or maybe 200.00.I could've bought them but I don't need them and I figured some local Polk members I know would get them. I think they did. I saw his ad and decided to let a Polkie get them for cheap. The ad lasted 1 day. I knew it wouldn't last. Another transaction here;
I gave a guy a nice onkyo amp for his birthday a few months ago. He gets a new giant reciever the next couple of days off craigs list and I ask him what about the amp I gave him? I'm giving it to a friend for his birthday he said. 2 days time.... That's life isn't it. Unreal how some people think. I couldn't do that. Would you, anybody? It's his.. I gave it away thinking I was helping him out. I did, I saved him $ from buying his friend a great gift huh.
I just don't comprehend you thinking I, somebody who has sold more $$ worth of gear than you might ever own in your life, would think somebody else doesn't have the right to sell for proffit OF ANY AMOUNT he/she can get for ANYTHING they're selling...
Do you actualy know somebody else who believes sales should not include proffit? I don't know anybody EXCEPT MYSELF ON A FEW OCCASSIONS and in fact I know just the opposite. Get what you can, and why not, the bills keep coming. I've been blessed and am comfortable $wise for the past few years, so that's why I have sold for cost at times. It came back to me I believe.
2 people want your last set of rings, one guy gets them for 100.00. The guy doesn't care one bit about them but he knows he can double his money fast. I feel for the second in line, that's all. That's life, I KNOW, the early bird gets the "deal".
Larry, I've always liked you and please maybe respond to my posts with a little more compassion...please.
I guess I hate a middleman huh... That's all. Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

Tony,
I have always liked you as well.. for the record I wasn't looking to upset you or insult you and know you have done good things as well. I may have just took your post wrong, it happens from time to time..
And if I failed to thank you it might have just been because I was busy. also when you're being blasted with PM's (only 70) you have to thin them down just to keep the ones that might have addresses or other important info to keep things flowing through. Things/Thoughts get mixed and lost in the fray..
It's happening now with the orders I have...
With all my deepest love Tony!!!

Sorry if my reply was too blunt. No disrespect.
There are flippers doing this for a living and they use all kinds of tactics to make few $$ that can be understandable to some limit when they have to feed their family.
I heard few incidents where the flipper upon finding the seller is a veteran, pretended he is also a veteran and got discount. Some other flipper mentioned his dying/sick relative needs a stereo in her room but he can't afford and seller gave them for free just to see them on CL.
That's just plain immoral and down low. Those kind of flippers deserve the hate but most are just playing the game.
I think 99% of buyers say 'I can't afford them' actually means they can afford but don't want to pay that much.

Hi, to all. This is my first post and and haven't even really explored the site yet, so i apologize if there is another place that I should have introduced myself. I am the person that bought the SRS's n Rhode Island and just wanted to let everyone know that I did not buy them to flip, for what it's worth. I am excited about getting them set up and exploring this site and will hopefully be able to contribute, as well as learn. I have had RTA 12b's(sold to a friend at cost) and Monitor 5jr's(sold for a small profit after enjoying for several months) that taught me to appreciate Polk speakers. Anyway, glad to be a Polkie(?) again and am really looking forward to setting them up, listening, and improving these beauties, and if I ever DO decide to part with them, I'll post them here first.

Don; I'm looking forward to checking those beauties out firsthand this weekend. I'll bring my sda compendium over as there's lots of good info in there as well. I'm betting they'll be quite an upgrade over your big Bozaks.

Thanks, B. looking forward to it!

Thanks, MYSTERY! Lived on Leetsdale Ave for awhile, worked in Aurora. Great country.

It's always nice to see someone get a deal on some gear they have been looking for. Whether or not you turn around and sell these later isn't really something that concerns me. I think everyone likes the stories where someone is able to get something they want for a great deal. I hear plenty of those stories myself from my wife. "I got an awesome deal on these shoes!" I'm the same way when I find a deal for audio equipment on craigslist or snowboarding gear online - and she could care less. So whether it's shoes or speakers everyone likes to find what they consider good bargain. You have a good story to tell and hopefully you are able to enjoy the speakers for a long time.Speakers

Welcome to club Polk! Thanks for chiming in, it's a small world isn't it!
I picked up a lot of good used gear this past year with the BS to my wife that I could sell some stuff as I acquired more. That hasn't happened, but I have expanded my audio from the living room to the bedroom, the patio and yard, my office, my wife's gallery, and helped a friend, and so on. I will eventually sell some stuff just to make the wife happy and get some funds for more upgrade supplies.
By the way, you don't have to do a dang thing to your speakers, but if you do here's a great link:
http://vr3mods.com/LCSDAUpgrade.html
I've upgraded in stages and the improvements are never ending. Congrats on your score!
Also, I think the love you read in this thread is quite real!
Don't forget the link above and check out some of the threads by Darqueknight and VR3 especially. Plus Nspindle is doing an upgrade thread and I just started one as well for the jr. version of the srs speakers.
Make sure you have ample power if you drive them hard.

Hey all,
A buddy of mine in China has a machine shop and he said he could make about 200 sets of "Mr. Chan's rings". A complete set for SDA SRSs would only cost you guys $18.50 plus shipping! They are beautiful! Get them while they are hot! His email is Mrchan@imfullofcrap.com.
Sorry, I could'nt resist . Please don't take this this wrong way. All you guys are great and from what I understand, Larry's rings are the bomb!
PS Please don't bother Mr. Chan. I was only joking . -
Thanks, all. I appreciate the welcome and congrats and advise. Even more, now that I've heard them. My friend MOTORSTEREO came over and we hooked them up in the garage. Wow. I have heard his(newer vers. w/mods) and was very impressed, but when they belong to you, there is something particularly sweet about them. They are like new cosmetically, everything is working and sounding great. Came with the interconnect, manual, sales brochure and some correspondence from Polk. Bi-wired them to my Carver ZR1600, Carver C-1, and Sony S9000ES cd player. Even in the garage, they sound great. Once placed properly in the house and with the mods I am planning, I can't wait. MS say's, "And think, this is the worst they will ever sound"! Ha. So, I've borrowed his copy of R. Smith's 2nd Ed. "The SDA Compendium", and I'm off to set up a comfy chair. My family knows where to find me for the next several hours, at least. I'll check out the sources and links you guys have graciously provided when I come back in the house. Could be awhile...
-
I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

That was a fun way to spend the afternoon helping a bud hook up his perfectly mint pair of srs's. Even though the set up was far from ideal those srs's still projected the big soundstage and pinpoint imaging. The Carver gear Don had them hooked up to also seemed to be a fine match up. The thing that amazed me most is what beautiful condition these speakers are in. I could not spot a nick, scuff or scratch anywhere. Obviously the po cherished these big guys. I certainly wish my 1.2tl's were in that condition when I brought them home.
