Connecting Amp to A/V Receiver

Hey all, I've been doing some reading lately of the benefits you're bound to get by connecting your speakers to an Amp vs an A/V Receiver and I think I'm going to go for the jump and get this Amplifier: http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/amplifiers/products/xpa2
However, I'm having trouble figuring out how I would get the amp hooked up to the receiver, I've read that you need to use the pre-out on your receiver but I don't get where it would connect to on your amp. Now, mind you I'm knowledgeable on connections such as LFE, RCA, HDMI, connecting speakers, etc, so I know some stuff. But if I connect the amp to the receiver via pre-out, how would I go about connecting my subwoofer as well? (preferred; LFE). The receiver I have is the Onkyo TX-NR717. Here's a picture of the back: http://www.hificorner.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/t/x/tx-nr717__b__rear_n9999x9999.png.jpg
The amp will primarily be used for listening to music in 2 channel powering 2 RTi A7's.
Thanks a lot for any feedback as I'm new to amps completely and am unfamiliar with some of the connections it uses.

So basically, the amp would be powering the fronts and I would still be able to switch between sources on the A/V and still get audio (PS3, TV, CD, etc) Also, I'd still be able to use my sub connected to one of the Sub pre-outs on the receiver while the amp is being used, correct?Current setup: Harman Kardon HKTS 30BQ

Correct.

Great, and I'll assume if I ever get the XPA-3, I can just connect that amp to preouts center, and surround for 5.1 running from both amps.
Gotcha, thanks a lotCurrent setup: Harman Kardon HKTS 30BQ
