I am new to this forum as well as vintage polk loud speakers. I just lucked into a pair of SDA-1A speakers which belonged to my nieghbor. I have a Kenwood VR-7070 Reciever that they are wired to? Is.0 this receiver ok for these speakers? After listening to them for a while, the speakers went out once and went fuzzy an2other time. But i turn the receiver off and on again and they sound great. Is this a problem with the receiver or the speakers? I also do not have the interconnect cable hooked up yet but will be in about a week..

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Without being there it's hard to say. But I would say that an old 6.1 Kenwood AVR is probably having problems driving the SDAs. Is the amp getting HOT? Check it! Pretty sure that AVR cannot handle low impedance loads (4 Ohm)?

And see if you can find something "more" robust to amp the speakers with!

Thanks! that actually makes sense because I beive the Kenwood Receiver is supposed to power speakers with 8 to 16 ohms. Any recommendations for an amp for these speakers? I'd like to keep the price at or under $300.

Anyone have any advice as to what kind of amplifier to buy to power a pair of SDA-1A's and get the desired sound out of 'em? I am new to the vintage polk speakers and want to get the best out of them so any advice would help. Thanks!
