Speaker stands for a friend.

A friend of mine asked if I could build him some speaker stands, so I thought I would post some progress pics. Hard to tell from the pics but the base is double the thickness of the top. The edges have not been stained yet because they will be a different color than the rest of the stand. Once finished they will be getting some of the brass, cone speaker spikes for the base.
I love animals, they're delicious!

Nice to see you posting again Greyford! Yet again more awesome woodworking skills. Thanks! These are for a different friend. He wanted a set of stands that were an exact height so he asked if I could build him a set. I already had 200 lbs on each of them, don't think he will have to worry about strength and stability.:cheesygrin:I love animals, they're delicious! -
Almost ready for some finish. He wanted satin so I will be putting a few coats on once the stain is dry. Gonna take a little longer with the humidity, but I'm in no rush:cheesygrin: I will take some better pics once they are done, look much better in person.I love animals, they're delicious!

Thanks! Yeah hope he will like them, when I get the chance to finish them.I love animals, they're delicious! -
Those look pretty good so far. I was going to build a pair like this too but I scored a nice pair of stands on craigslist for 20 bucks and for that amount I don't know that I could have built them for less.

Thanks! Yeah these cost a little more than that to make lol. Around $200 in materials, but could have been even more if he would have let me buy better materials:eek: I would like to have bought solid pieces of birch for the top and base but he wanted to stay around a $200 budget(not including the price of the spikes), so that's one of the areas he wanted me to cut price on. I had to talk him into letting me use solid oak for the legs instead of dimensional lumber:eek: He wanted me to go even darker on stain, but I convinced him to let some of that beautiful wood grain to show through. Going as dark as he wanted it, I might as well paint it lol. I started applying the poly this morning so it should be done in the next few days:cheesygrin:I love animals, they're delicious! -
Yeah my stands aren't anywhere near that nice. I'm pretty sure mine is thick pressboard. No woodgrain here. The woodgrain will really make those stands look high class. I hope he enjoys them once your done.

Except for the speaker spikes, the stands are all finished:cheesygrin:I love animals, they're delicious!
