Crappy evening here in Japan

I was out just cruising the city. I decided to turn into a convenient store for a nice cold beverage when a kid (17)on a bike guns a red light and rips into the front end of the S550. I immediately got out of the car to see if he was ok( he was just scratched up pretty badly). Japanese police rushed to the scene, asked me a million and one questions during the interview. Needless to say my MB S550 has a totally **** front end. I'm just glad the kid was OK, because I sure as hell thought he was a goner while gunning the red light.

Now that's out of the way, how are you guys?

I pick up the police report tomorrow, $500.00 says this dude has no insurance. Any takers?

So what happens in that sense? Do you sue?

Glad everyone is alright. I dislike drivers who just don't pay attention.

Will know more tomorrow bro. I'm hoping his insurance handles everything. I had full coverage so I should be ok either way. Not sure how it works out here. I know most of the blame gets pointed at the American or foreigner either way if they have any doubt at all.

Glad everyone is ok, it's just a car man, can be fixed or replaced. Just had a lady rip the front end off my Honda too, and I was parked, not even in the car, eating breakfast. She went to pull into the space infront of my car and her right rear wheel of a big honkin' SUV catches the front left quarter panel and rips the bumper clean off.....and she had a mile to pull in too. Such is life, crap happens.

What great incentive to visit that country...

Side question. Many times when you see a picture of the Japanese public there are some people wearing a protector over their nose and mouth. Is that just a cultural thing? Or is it recent because of the radioactivity from the power plant mess?

Japanese people are very particular about diseases, colds and such. Most who wear them are trying to prevent others from getting sick and some of them will wear them to avoid catching anything in the first place.

And they will go completely out of their way if they see someone who is in need.

Our martial arts group went on a trip to do some training there with our host instructor - one of our students got caught in the rain in Kanezawa and a complete stranger, an older woman, walked up and offered her umbrella to this student.

I'd go back in a second....
