I picked up my EPI 120Cs today. Have to clean them up and see how they sound, bought off the local CL. I met the guy and his wife, lots of vintage speakers.

So he asked me if I wanted some Wharfdale Denon 2s for $10? I took look, '70s smallish bookshelf, probably a 6 1/2" two way Acoustic suspension. Never having had any vintage Wharfdales. I said, what the heck throw those in. The EPIs were coming it a good price for me and looked in decent shape.

Was wondering if any of you know anything more about the Wharfdale. It has some kind of odd protective fabric over the cone tweeter. See the shot below. Sorry about the resolution, my wife has all the good cameras and I, just a cheap camera phone. So I had to take it out to the porch to even have enough light for the shot!

Thanks.

OK it seems that Hifiengine calls that an 8" woofer. But it doesn't seem more than 7" to me.

    Here is some info:

Here is a bad camera phone shot of the EPI 120Cs. It seems one of the tweeters has some kind of repair resin that looks very much like whatever the coating on the main tweeter is. Perhaps plugging up a small hole. So far I can't hear any problems with that tweeter but I do have a MINT set in my 100Vs that could be used if one arises.

So far I just have them hooked up to a Vector Research VR-5000 and a CDP. They seem a little more open and airy than the 100Vs. The sound tends to free itself more from its location. And of course, some "more" bottom end with that 10" woofer in there.

    Reasonably heavy and fairly large for a 10" two way. 25" x 15" x 10.5".

I'm liking what I hear! Will probably put them on a Kenwood integrated later in the day (KA-7300).

You really hung it out there risking that 10 spot on them.

That fabric might be a tweeter tamer.
