I use my PC as a music server in my main rig. I wondered if using an after market cord on the pc will yield the same audible improvements as on other audio gear? If it it does improve sound, which type of cord (digital, gauge) is recommended? Please let me know your thought

I can not find it, but a year or so ago a reviewer in stereophile hooked his Shunyata power cable to his Mac music server and noticed a big improvement in the sound quality.

This year in the absolute sound there was a multi-month series on digital audio where the author's evaluated different ripping and playback software. At the end they tried tweaks such as vibration elimination and power cord on the computer, and they were astounded at the sound improvement from the tweaks.
Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables

Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
    Three 20 amp circuits.

If there is a quality difference on audio files, then theoretically it would make anything you copy off a media disc better quality......Microsoft Word or Diablo 3? There's no analog here.

I'm wondering how it affects the sound when no power cord at all is involved, i.e. the computer running on battery power alone. And does it matter which end of the power cord is unplugged first? Would I get better results when unplugging the plug from the receptacle on the wall first or is it better to unplug the cord from the computer first? And how about the humidity of the room? Is there an optimum humidity for best sound when using the computer as a music server? I, personally, find that I am most comfortable in a room with 37.5% relative humidity, but I am not sure my computer is at its best at that level. Tell you what, I'll give a listen, factoring in all these variables, and report back asap.

You're probably most comfortable in a room alone!

I really fail to understand why people post crap like this when it does nothing besides just starts a fight. If you don't believe in it thats fine but to make fun of those that do is annoying and useless.

You're absolutely right. I apologize to all. Bad week at work and I was in a pissy mood this evening. I'd delete it if I could, but apparently it is too late. Again, I apologize to all involved.
