Real easy, but it took a little longer than I thought. Did I go overboard?

awesome job. Very neat work. It does take a lot longer than I imagined as well. I used a lot more dynamat than you and feel I probably went overboard myself. But i kept tapping the frames and kept hearing resonance, especially on the large passives. I ended up using 3 layers (2 outside and 1 inside) on the sides and 2 layers on the back plate area.

Yours is as neat as I've seen pictures of. You'll like what you hear.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

+1 on that! Very nice job. It's no wonder it took you longer than you expected! You really did a precision job, especially on the PR's. Congrats.

GlennDog - Nice work! I see you did your SDA 2Bs - how much Dynamat did you use on them? Did you get the Xtreme Wedge Pak (4 sq. ft.), or a different amount? I'm wondering because I got that pack and would like to know if it'll be enough to do my 2Bs and my Monitor 10Bs.

How about enough for 2Bs, 10Bs, and a pair of 5jrs?

IMHO, I think it amounts to how liberal you are with the stuff. I think it will cover All Three of your speaks. One layer should do nicely. The Xtreme Wedge Pak (4 sq. ft.),is the way to go. Check Amazon, it cost undr $30 and it looks like it will cover my SDA-2Bs AND the SRS-2s with a little left over. . . . Just start with the largest bare metal surface first and work down from there . . .

    Good luck, Easy Job!

It is so damn hot.....I'm staying indoors to install Dynamat Xtreme Wedge Pak. I am currently fine with the SL2000 in my 1.2's. Thanks Glenndog for motivating me to improve these great Speakers (starting with Dynamat & tightening down the Drivers)! Stone of Tone

I am thinking of doing this too.
Does it really make that big a difference?
You know I paid $2500 for my 2.3tls in 89 and I thought for me anyway that much cash would give me something close to perfect (I keep seeing a picture of the technician with a stethoscope in one of the sales brochures making sure they sound just right, no resonance ).
Any way you all were right about the RDO-198 tweeters although the original Sl3000 looked to be better quality and much more expensive.
Do I need 2 packages for the big guys?
