Ok,we all know that Rush recordings are horrible at best, at least on CD's

How do they sound on vinyl is the question?

I really like them but it hurts to listen to their CD's they just sound so bad as I climb up the equipment ladder so to say, the better the equipment the worse it sounds

Some of it sounds pretty good on vinyl. I just picked up CAs on vinyl but I haven't had a chance to hear it yet as my turntable is back home in GA. Hopefully I'll listen to it soon. I actually think CAs doesn't sound that band on CD. It's definitely not the best recorded material I've ever heard, but it's not the worst either. I have two pretty revealing systems, but I'll still put in some Rush and jam. They are my favorite band and if I have to put up with some not so great recordings to listen to them, then I'll do it. Still though it would be awesome to hear them recorded at the same level as their musicianship.

What era are you looking into? Early RUSH on ANTHEM records are excellent. Moving Pictures sounds excellent, Perment Waves on MOFI sounds suberb and can be found at original price.

I have right up to Hold your Fire and they started to drop off at around the Grace Under Pressure. Hold Your Fire sounds aweful. I bought Clockwork Angels but have not opened it yet.

good luck with your RUSH search!

Some of my best Rush LP's are Holland and Japanese pressings. Some of the best US pressings are mastered by Bob Ludwig.

A thread where Duell (LessisNevermore) and I did some comparisons of my three Moving Pictures LP's and made some hi-res 96/24 vinyl rips from it.

Here is a massive Rush on Vinyl thread at the Steve Hoffman forums.

There are many specific Rush albums threads at the Hoffman forum. To find them, do a specific Rush album title search and select the "thread title" filter. You will get 'best of' on vinyl and CD threads.

Thanks for all the info so far it is appreciated.

I still listen to Rush on a regular basis, CD's, and tolerate the recording quality because they are so good.
