SDA2 - safe to send LFE channel to them?

Hey Everyone,

I have been rearranging my home theater/casual listening room and have found a way to fit my SDA2's into the mix. They are currently being well fed by a Carver TFM-35 with a Denon 3310ci as the preamp.

My question is whether it would be safe/recommended to route the LFE channel from movies to my SDA's. I have a smallish sub - Klipsch 10" but it just doesn't sound very good.

The denon will let me reroute the LFE information to my mains but I'd prefer not to damage my vintage speakers with too much bass content... What do you guys think?

It will be fine. They can handle some serious bass, and they just won't make noise below their limits. Some speakers make weird harmonics or other possibly damaging noises when fed content that's too low for them, but SDA's don't. They'll play what they can play, and anything below that they'll just be silent on.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll try it on my next movie (low volume at first) and see how it sounds.

I'm using 1Bs full-range for both music and movies. No problem at all. You'll be fine, although MAYBE a bit bass-shy.

First Guess: More satisfying than using a compromised "subwoofer".

Do you have the LFE channel routed to your 1Bs also, or are they just running full-range for the front L-R signal?

In my previous Yamaha receiver, I had an option to route bass to subwoofer only or to subwoofer and fronts both.
I did both option using SDA CRS and also with 7B's and never had any problem.

    Klipsch RB81, KG3.5, B&W DM602.5, Polk.
Subwoofers: Klipsch RW10, Triad ProSub Bronze.

I don't have a subwoofer. System is 7.0. LFE is going to the 1Bs, which are the only speakers that get the bass. Works nicely.

Well I tested it out last night - no sub, and the LFE sent to the SDA-2'a... It sounds great! No lack of bass and very nice overall. Thanks for the advice.

Try running your sub also, you more than likely will end up digging a little deeper.
