Is a Denon Link cable just an ethernet cable?

Probably a proprietary protocol that only Denon gear speaks.
My Sony NS9100ES SACD connects to my Sony DA7100ES pre-pro via Sony's Ilink that allows SACD over digital (firewire cable), but only Sony gear supports it.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -
Were you supposed to? Was it part of the OEM packaging? If so, a call to Denon would probably get one shipped out to you asap.

I've heard of that Sony link deal but didn't know what it was for:)
I've thought of doing that also. Yes, it said when I got it on the packing list it had "denon link cable" on it... I haven't the foggiest why there wasn't on in there but yeah, idk why I haven't yet but I'll tell them about it.Home theater:

Check all the packing material closely. Sometimes small stuff is crammed into little recesses in the foam parts.

I've read where folks use a high quality Cat5 or better cable for the D Link, preferably shielded. Denon had offered a short premium Denon Link cable for ~$500.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 *

correct the only difference is that the Denon has shielding, but I've used both and had no difference in sound quality that i could tell -

After that type of customer (dis)service, I don't think I would ever buy another Denon cartridge, even though I do like the sound of them. There are other companies out there making cartridges, and they probably care more about their customers. This is also part of the reason I went with Onkyo for my AVR this time around.
Sorry for the rant, but your post just reminded me of that incident. -

Well, they damn sure should send you one if it's on the parts list and missing. I'd threaten to return the whole enchilada if they seem reluctant to send you what you paid for. (it will cost em something if you do return it) -
I doubt they will too. I like Denon's products, but their customer (dis)service doesn't impress me. I sent them an email not too long ago asking if I could get a replacement screw/nut set for my DL110 cartridge. They told me they are not available, even for purchase. They then went on to tell me that I should buy a whole new cartridge set in order to get new screws and nuts. I could have accepted them not carrying the parts, but to turn around and tell me I should buy a new cartridge brought the response to a special level of absurdity. I responded with a fairly lengthy (and polite) email detailing why that was a poor response, including how absurd it was not to carry replacement parts like that. Needless to say, I never heard back, but I still felt better getting it out. I ended up getting something from the local hardware store and it works fine.

That doesn't sound like much an "incident" to me. They don't carry the screws, so of course they'd suggest a new cart. Finding the parts at a hardware store is the obvious answer, so there's no need for them to suggest that.
Were they rude in their email or something? Unless they were mean or something, I'm failing to see the (dis)service.2-Channel: PC > Schiit Eitr > Audio Research DAC-8 > Audio Research LS-26 > Pass Labs X-250.5 > Magnepan 3.7's

No need for appologies, I've read a lot about Denon's customer service and hear it's pretty bad... they're ****'s lol you know they don't like Americans!Well, they damn sure should send you one if it's on the parts list and missing. Looks like I'm going to have to just order one because denon after i sent them an email about it missing it said expect a response within 24-48 hours, well it's been well over 48 and no word. but I really am not surprised. they probably saw it and blew it off because one, it's an old player, two I'm american, and three... well... they're greedy, they'd probably want me to buy one of their $900 blu-ray players instead lolHome theater:

I'd go with a shielded Cat5e cable, they are not that much more expensive. I know shielded Cat5 makes a difference with me exporting PCM/DSD (CD/SACD) out of a Denon 3910 to my external DAC. It's like a huge antenna for RFI without shielding.Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -
