HD TV help

I was recently sickened when our Sony HD tube set went out. I've yet to see a picture that would compare in any of the box stores. Can anyone give some recommendations on a flat panel that will provide the same quality picture? All that I've seen have flat colors with no depth especially on skin tones. I don't know whats up with the LCD I'm using now but it doesn't know how to reproduce greens worth a damn. Some channels look good, most mediocre at best. Blu-rays do look the best played on a PS3.
I guess my original question is LCD, Plasma or LED. If plasma, does the refresh rate make that big of a difference as I still see alot at 60hz.

    Plasma. The new Panasonic (X)T50 line. ST is the cheapest, then GT, then VT. I think the ST's are frickin' gorgeous. Imma get a 60" in a few months.

    I have to agree with 72. Panasonic Plasma. Best bang for your buck, 50'' ST50 at Amazon now $1100.

    I researched Tvs like crazy.... for realistic colors straight out the box Lg Led is real nice. Other wize Sony Led and Panny Plasma have some great offerings.

    Seeing that what you like is a crt based HD picture from your old Sony, plasma will be your huckleberry. Find an old Kuro, or panny plasma and you'll forget about that Sony pronto.
