Are these upgradeable w/ new boards RTA12s (first run/very early production)? I don't think so, but I need to ask. They have external fuses, vertical mounted tweets and in good shape. The pcb does not appear to be "printed" ??

They're asking $300 and 4 hours away . . . I'm impressed with my friends 12Cs . .Will I be disappointed? ty

Thanks as always,

My local CL had a pair that were at $140 before the ad came down. I think $300 is way too much plus the drive makes it even worse of a deal. I would wait and look for a pair of 12C's or SDA's in your area.

To confirm, yes, those are the original model RTA12's & I agree, they're not worth $300. If they're in excellent shape - which we can't tell by the pics, then maybe they're worth $150. They're good speaks, no doubt about it. But if you can, I suggest holding out for some B's or, best, C's.

What am I missing here? With the Monitors, the originals, or "A" versions, are more desirable because of the Peerless tweet. Why is that not the same with the RTA's? What changed between the A, B, & C, besides the tweeter???

Peerless tweets are great but the improvements to the crossovers alone make the B and C quite a bit better IMO.

Hey GlennDog, where are you located? I have a pair of 12C's in the house that I might let go.

    30 minutes north of beautiful downtown Windsor, Ontario, Canada . . . geographically funky . . . 20 minutes north of Day-tois i.e. Motown

Those buggers would be tough to ship, especially with the Top Hat

On another note, ever thought of parting ways with your mini 2s ?

The problem with shipping in the cost, not the logistics.

Yeah shipping any big speaker is gunna be a logistics issue.
I was just addressing how the tophats could be handled.
they stil would need a pallet or a Polkie Express solution :)

Nah. I could ship them FedEx in non-original boxes without an issue. I have a lot of experience shipping large, fragile items.

The logistics part is easy; it's the cost that's prohibitive for a speaker of this value... if they were worth a few grand, the shipping would be worth it, but they're not.
