Someone remind me why we do this. If anything, I think we should go the other direction. Who the hell wants it to be dark at 5:30pm???

As the sun goes down the tubes brighten up. It is time for some enjoyment. The SDA's come up to volume and the world seems a little brighter. Yes, it is a little darker outside but inside, life is blissful! I'm all for it!

I think that it has something to do with farmers......More light during one part of the year or somethin like that....<<shrug>>

I know AZ doesn't have to change, but what other states don't go by DST?

Daylight Savings time is done in the interest of [Child Safety]. Since the days are much shorter in the winter, the clocks are set back so the little kids are not standing out at those bus stops in the dark during the early morning hours.

Even though it will get dark very early when Daylight Savings is in effect, the kids are usually out of school prior to darkness.

As far as Arizona ... They don't do Daylight Savings. It has something to do with the farmers, but I don't have a clue what the major **** the farmers have with it is.

I prefer the nighttime..... the call of the midnight air.... the beauty of the mother moon in her fullness.. the feel of a young virgins carotid atery just inches below your teeth.......Uh.....wait.....where am I?.... I'm glad it's now dark early. I get home, it's dark, I can light up the fire pit, sit with a good cuban smoke and a beer and enjoy the cool ocean breeze and stars and the quiet, because all the little skateboarding rug rats are inside.

    Peace Out~:D

    Ron,

First of all, Daylight Saving Time STARTS in April, thereby making for later sunsets and (seemingly) longer summer days. In October Daylight Saving Time ENDS. So we are now back to Standard Time.

I've never heard the "kids at the bus stops in the dark" reason for it.

The only explaination I've ever heard is that it would give farmers an extra hour of daylight in the summer to work their fields. DST was created quite a long time ago when farming was even more labor intensive than it is now. It was before the existance of much of the labor saving farm equipment used today.

With modern farming being a much more effecient enterprise these days, many people feel DST has outlived it's usefulness.
